Carlos Zambrano Suspended 6 Games

Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano was suspended 6 games by Major League Baseball today for his hilarious outburst against the Pirates yesterday. He will not appeal. He will be able to pitch next Thursday against the Braves. I love how the Cubs announcers think Morgan was out. He was safe.

All Points West 2009 Line-Up Announced

This years line-up is a little better than last years, not that last years was bad or anything. If you are planning to go this year and you didn't go last year, here is some advice. If you are staying overnight, stay in Manhattan near Ground Zero or Wall Street and take the ferry to the concert. It was only around $20 round trip and there was a few of them running all day long. There is no reason to get a hotel in Jersey City. I'm not sure what parking was like but even the concert promoters suggest public transportation. Don't go there to get drunk because that won't happen. You are only allowed 5 drinks per person. Considering that the gates open early (11ish I think) and the show doesn't end until Midnight-ish, you have no choice but to pace yourself. You are better off doing other things than drinking (bring a lighter). There is plenty of room so if you want to go sit in the grass with friends you can. The three stages are pretty far from one another so you really only here the stage you are by. If it's hot out, there are spray tents to cool you off. You will spend some time there, trust me. Last year was well organized and everyone seemed to have a blast. I know I did. My must see list: Tool, The Black Keys, Vampire Weekend, The National, Beastie Boys, Arctic Monkeys, The Cool Kids, MGMT, Elbow, Silversun Pickups, The Gaslight Anthem, and The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Now if they only let you get drunk...

Former WBS Pens Head Coach Glenn Patrick To Coach Prep School Hockey

Glenn Patrick was the first ever coach of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Under his watch the Pens had a 115-152-38-15 record in his four years, including leading the team to the Calder Cup Finals in 2001. Patrick also spent time as a scout for Pittsburgh. Yesterday Patrick agreed to coach for Wyoming Seminary, a prep school in Kingston, Pa. near Wilkes-Barre. Before the Baby Pens came to Wilkes-Barre, this area wasn't much for hockey. Sure people knew who Wayne Gretzky was but they couldn't tell you what teams he played for. Mario Lemieux? The people of NEPA had no clue who he was. They thought he was a character in a Disney movie.

So good luck to Coach Patrick. Wyoming Seminary has had some talent come through Kinston. Eric Tangradi, who was acquired in the Kunitz/Whitney trade, is currently in the CHL. Others include Arpad Mihaly who spent some time with the WBS Penguins, Dennis Packard who is with Bridgeport of the AHL, and Ales Parez who is playing in England.

Patrick last coached for the Wheeling Nailers from 2005-2008. Now he gets to stay in his adopted hometown to do what he does best, coach.
