Dotel to the Dodgers for McDonald and Lambo

In probably the best deal of the day the Pirates traded Octavio Dotel and $500,000 to the LA Dodgers for RHP James McDonald and OF Andrew Lambo.

Prior to 2009 McDonald was ranked the #56 prospect in baseball by Baseball America. He is a good control pitcher. He has three good pitches, and averages over a strikeout per inning at AAA. He even has some big league experience but he hasn't been successful at that level. He has been both a reliever and a starter, but has started in the minors.

Andrew Lambo, in addition to being suspended 50 games for violating the leagues drug policy, was ranked #49 in 2009 by Baseball America. He was ranked as the #7 prospect in the Dodgers organization this offseason by Baseball America and prior to this past offseason was the #1 prospect in their organization.

Overall this was a great trade for a guy we signed in the offseason, and really don't need. No doubt the cash strapped Dodgers threw these guys away for the extra money.
