Some Perspective on .500

I don't mean to downplay how good the Pirates are playing right now, but I wanted to add a little perspective. Here is a list of every season during the streak, and when the team's last game at the .500 mark occurred. The bolded dates are all later than today.

1993 - 37-37 on June 28th
1994 - 38-38 on June 30th
1995 - They were never .500 at any point.
1996 - 15-15 on May 5th
1997 - 68-68 on August 30th
1998 - 33-33 on June 12th
1999 - 67- 67 on September 1st
2000 - 2-2 on April 7th
2001 - 4-4 on April 11th
2002 - 19-19 on May 15th
2003 - 14-14 on May 2nd
2004 - 23-23 on May 30th
2005 - 30-30 on June 11th
2006 - They were never .500 at any point
2007 - 12-12 on April 30th
2008 - 7-7 on April 15th
2009 - 12-12 on May 3rd
2010 - 7-7 on April 21st

So while it is more than okay to be happy about this ballclub, there is a whole lot of season left to play. It's nice to know there are only eight later dates though. This club has made it farther than over half who have tried.
